Wedding Fever

Thursday, January 31, 2013

Hi readers!

One of my close friends Kerre is getting hitched this Summer and I can't help love looking at wedding dresses again. I was lucky enough to be asked to be a bridesmaid in her wedding and go view her wedding dress fitting happening today. (She's having her J-Crew gown customized which is rad)

I was married last April and it seems that it was just yesterday I was shopping for my own wedding dress. I had the dilemma of Vera Wang starting to design for David's Bridal around the time of my wedding and falling in love with a huge Tulle dress that was $1,050 and my dad flipped over the price. Needless to say I didn't end up getting said dress but did get one I loved as much.

For my readers planning their weddings on a budget here are a few dresses/accessories I love and might help you decide what to wear. I had a huge wedding close to 300 people so it had to be on a budget with a lot of things so I didn't have crazy debt afterwards. Unless you have a crazy obsession with a certain designer and coveting that name-tag on your back I say just get a dress that you love. Finally, I wasn't that excited about going into a "bridal shop" but it was fun to try on so many different dresses. I ended up picking a different one from David's Bridal online outlet that I didn't try on but it only ended up costing $299.00 and it was totally worth it. (I am not a paid sponsor for David's Bridal btw)

How amazing is this dress on sale at David's Bridal right now? If I could do one thing different in my wedding I would have chosen a different/lighter dress to wear to the reception but everything else about our wedding I loved. I bought all my bridal dresses from the outlet too for only $29.99 a piece! That was a crazy steal and it all worked out even though one of my best friends found out she was preggo half-way through planning the wedding.

Winter Weather Outfits

Wednesday, January 30, 2013

Burr...

Most Midwesterners can handle this cold weather but I still think MO/KS folks are kinda pansies. I wore my goulashes, orange knit hat, dark purple wool coat, and my white poncho and I feel fine. For those ladies that are having Just Another Day at the Office feeling can you please review these outfits for a few ideas? Stay warm out there and mostly stay safe!

Spilt Coffee

Tuesday, January 29, 2013

Hi readers,

This morning was NOT my morning. I did get to visit Parisi Coffee before work and take a fun Instagram photo of Union Station; however, I ended up spilling my mocha two times today. The worst part was that I spilt it over my light pink shirt which ended up making it see through and I'm sure clients would not be impressed with that. I went home and changed which ended up with me wearing these fun tights. At least those can make up for my "Case of the Mondays" which ended up happening to me on a Tuesday. Let's see if I can make it through the rest of my day without any more spilt milk.

Cheers,

The Addy's 2013

Monday, January 28, 2013

Ohhhh parties,

I went thrifting and found two dresses worthy of The Addy's. It's a time for creatives in Kansas City to really dress to impress, walk around talking about creative things, and drink too many cocktails. The first dress I found really reminds me of Kirsten Dunst's Louis Vuitton dress she wore to the Art of Elysium Gala. The biggest difference is that I bought my dress for $6.00 and it is Jessica Mcclintock.

I plan to wear my heels from Windsor I blogged about a few weeks ago, the black strappy ones, and wear my hear up in some Audrey Hepburnesque hairdo. Excited to take pictures of everyone there because I should have my new camera by then. What dress do you like better?

New Camera

Sunday, January 27, 2013

Hi lovelies,

I think starting this blog and doing a post everyday is great fun but I have decided after this one I will rest from blogging on Sundays. Sunday is a day of relaxation and no work so I plan to follow that most of the time. I did want to clue you in on two exciting things: one-tomorrow's post will be about my two dress choices for The Addy Awards, two-I am getting a new camera.

Robbie and I have been researching, ok well Robbie has really been doing research, we finally found ourselves a camera winner. I love the old school feel of this camera and the beautiful digital photos it takes. Our paycheck this week will purchase this beauty and then you will see so many more original photos on here and not just my instagram phone shots. I am loving sharing my time on my blog with you and I ask that you become a full-time follower! Twitter, Facebook, Google Reader, whatever floats your boat but please follow me. Also, don't be afraid to leave me a comment because I love hearing your thoughts. Sleep well.

Good Hair Day

Saturday, January 26, 2013

Readers,

It finally happened where I put product in my hair and took time to blow dry it. (Two products to be exact) Usually I leave the house with wet hair and this cold weather turns it into ice cubes. I'm dressed a little like Meg or Jack White from The White Stripes with only white, black, and red. If I can get my act together on a more consistent basis I think I could have a few fully put together outfits everyday for work. Thanks for this awesome weather too that I only have to wear a red blazer with killer shoulder pads for warmth. Happy Saturday!

Miss Congeniality

Friday, January 25, 2013

Hi friends,

The hubs and I have been researching cameras a ton so I can properly start documenting my outfits for my blog. I am excited to start getting back into my photography skills again and excited to share them with you soon.

In other news, TGIF. Can we all just agree how much you want to see this film? The Heat which stars Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy, which if you remember Melissa from Bridesmaids, I was crying from laughing so hard.

I love Sandra Bullock and this reminds me of her earlier film Miss Congeniality. What a hottie in that outfit, right?

Modern Twist on her dress:
So there will be a ton of Original Content in the upcoming month after I order my camera. Stay tuned and XOXO.

Threadflip

Thursday, January 24, 2013

Oh no,

Readers, I have discovered a new shopping site. It's similar to Gilt except it features slightly worn items too from other sellers for WAY cheaper. I mean I'm considering getting this Tiffany's Bracelet for only $67.00 which is much cheaper than E-Bay or anywhere else I've looked. (This would include free shipping too)

You can sign-up for this website Threadflip through Facebook or through just your e-mail. I signed up using my e-mail because I don't need Threadflip posting on FB every time I click on something. (I am not a paid sponsor for this site)

I am considering ordering some flats from this site too because clearly I wear my leopard ones too much. Wearing flats to work has been much nicer too since the weather is freezing and with my running around for client lunches flats are much easier on my feet. Do my readers have any sites that they find great deals that they want to share with me?

Legs for Days

Wednesday, January 23, 2013

Hi,

Ok, I know everyone and their dog has written about Sex and the City but look at her outfit. This outfit screams put together but casual with her aviators, nude pumps, and simple accessories. I truly understand most ladies will never get their bodies this tiny or toned but the outfit still could look good on most. Let's lower that hem, put on some bronzer, and wear those nude heels. I love the slimming effect of navy for women and the actual dress shape works wonders to draw attention to all the wonderful curves of women. The handbag is simple enough to pull together with any outfit because it is a neutral color with two solid colored stripes. We probably can't afford said handbag but I know a few great thrift stores where you might find one darn close.

Bronson

Tuesday, January 22, 2013

Hi friends,

For those who don't know this is Bronson. He is my first dog I picked out as an adult, walk, pick up his poop, and love so much. He was a rescue and took a lot of training/patience to work through his aggression issues. He is so loving now and much calmer. Finally what better accessory can a girl ask for to any outfit? I mean what goes better with black and white, nothing. I love him mucho and he is so photogenic.

The Ambassador Hotel-Reserve

Monday, January 21, 2013

Hi!

Last night seemed like a dream. We went out to eat with friends for KC Restaurant week. We had a three course meal at Reserve that included an appetizer, main, and dessert. We indulged a little bit and ordered wine with our meal too. We had so much fun admiring the hotels decor too and really enjoyed the quiet time with friends. Robbie and I really enjoyed posing in my lush velvet couch. Glamour was all around; please go visit this place. You won't regret it!

Flower Power

Sunday, January 20, 2013

Hello,

This is my headband I have loved owning for a longtime. We should always be seen more together but sometimes she makes me feel too fancy. I am a believer that any scarf, headband, or flower in the hair instantly adds elegance to any outfit. I saw a lot of girls out today that wear TOO many accessories at one time. Can we please start using this as our fashion mantra Coco Chanel when getting dressed, "When accessorizing always take off the last thing you put on."

Let's Go Back to Mexico

Saturday, January 19, 2013

Saturday blues,

Man I am SO ready to finally kick this cold. It's hard to want to look cute when I feel not cute. Looking through my old photos on my camera I came across my honeymoon videos. This video has a cool 70's vibe to it with the colors from the beautiful Cabo sun in Mexico. I am going to post my thrift store finds tomorrow but for now will you enjoy a little slice of heaven?

Welcome home,

Beautiful shoes you are safely here. Great job on the shoe name: Romania. I'm half Russian so I like a strong shoe name. EASTERN EUROPEAN.

Print on Print

Friday, January 18, 2013

Hello,

Yes, I wore two animal prints today but I love it. I'm wearing a denim shirt to break up the prints so I don't look like I escaped from a zoo. TGIF, am I right?

Warm Bodies

Thursday, January 17, 2013

Beware,

Warm Bodies is the name of the movie I am seeing tonight with the hubs. (I know what you were thinking perv, ;) I am excited to have a "free" date night because I got free screen passes. Do you recognize this boy zombie name R? His name is Nicholas Hoult and he was the weird kid in About a Boy. That movie with Hugh Grant that deals with everything from attempted suicide, school bullies, bachelorhood, and first loves. Anyways that kid Nicholas Hoult is now a man and brilliant actor starring in Skins and this movie Warm Bodies. In typical Zombie Love fashion here is my best suggested outfit for such an outing.

Finding a Style Muse

Thursday, January 17, 2013

Yes sir and madam,

The cutest style off a reality television show: Cher Lloyd. I always love me a cute Brit. Sometimes her style is a little "too out there" but I appreciate her taking risks. Her hair always looks trendy too which helps that she's engaged to a hairdresser. I'm finally going thrift store shopping this weekend so I try to emulate her style. I like five out of six of these pictures/outfits, can you guess which one I would NEVER wear? Let's all start trying out her makeup and hair pulled back. Could it be any prettier and more simple?

Black Stiletto

Wednesday, January 16, 2013

Friends,

I bought a new pair of black heels from Windsor. I've been eyeing a similar pair since Jennifer Aniston's sweet stems have been walking around in them forever. I know you already saw my closet and don't know how I can fit another pair of shoes in there. My closet is similar to that of a Mary Poppin's handbag; the more you fill it the cleaner it gets? I'm trying to buy quality fabrics for shoes since I usually wear the heck out of them and these pretty ladies are suede. I will keep you posted when I wear these ladies out for a special occasion or just to walk around Westport. I think these look Parisian and need to be worn to Westport Cafe for a date night. PS-Jennifer Aniston is adorable in these heels and I need a black leather dress, no?

Poncho's-Love em, hate em?

Tuesday, January 15, 2013

Tuesday morning has arrived,

I have two poncho's in my closet but I think this will grow into much more. I think this is a style flattering on most body-types especially for a lot of my cute-preggo friends lately. Ponchos can be worn by a variety of different age brackets too which is nice for older ladies that need to stop shopping at Forever 21. (myself included) I have yet to order a Georgia O'Keefe/New Mexico inspire poncho but I am still searching for the perfect one. I enjoy the styling of this one because it is understated and not trying too hard to be worn; for most work situations I think pants not just tights would be required. The bright pink shirt underneath a poncho is nice too with slightly flared black pants. I think poncho's have a nice way to keep you warm and say I'm not trying too hard to be something ridiculous off the runway. I hope to visit my favorite store 1/2 of 1/2 Name Brand Clothing this weekend to take pictures of some new finds for my closet. As always when I find something new it's time to retire something old from my closet. RIP old clothes, RIP.

Rye KC

Saturday, January 12, 2013

Happy Saturday,

Today consisted of getting over a massive headache, blowing my nose a ton, eating donuts, regretting eating donuts, and taking a long cat nap after last night. It was a blast going out for Robbie's work but maybe I pushed it a little too hard staying out late after being sick. I had fun trying a new do with my hair and trying to do something different with my make-up for the Holiday Party. (See my post from yesterday to see what I wore out and how I did my hair)

We ate at Rye KC, Rob and I don't venture much out of the Plaza/Westport/Downtown area so it was a fun change for one night. http://www.ryekc.com/ I highly recommend going there for my friends who like Manifesto because their Mixologist came up with Rye KC's cocktail menu. Robbie and I both tried a cocktail called Coffee and Cigarettes. Disclaimer-if you don't like either one of those things DO NOT get this cocktail. Rob's picture is with his cocktail "Goldenrod." Look at the size of that ice cube in the glass!
