Wedding Fever

Thursday, January 31, 2013

Hi readers!

One of my close friends Kerre is getting hitched this Summer and I can't help love looking at wedding dresses again. I was lucky enough to be asked to be a bridesmaid in her wedding and go view her wedding dress fitting happening today. (She's having her J-Crew gown customized which is rad)

I was married last April and it seems that it was just yesterday I was shopping for my own wedding dress. I had the dilemma of Vera Wang starting to design for David's Bridal around the time of my wedding and falling in love with a huge Tulle dress that was $1,050 and my dad flipped over the price. Needless to say I didn't end up getting said dress but did get one I loved as much.

For my readers planning their weddings on a budget here are a few dresses/accessories I love and might help you decide what to wear. I had a huge wedding close to 300 people so it had to be on a budget with a lot of things so I didn't have crazy debt afterwards. Unless you have a crazy obsession with a certain designer and coveting that name-tag on your back I say just get a dress that you love. Finally, I wasn't that excited about going into a "bridal shop" but it was fun to try on so many different dresses. I ended up picking a different one from David's Bridal online outlet that I didn't try on but it only ended up costing $299.00 and it was totally worth it. (I am not a paid sponsor for David's Bridal btw)

How amazing is this dress on sale at David's Bridal right now? If I could do one thing different in my wedding I would have chosen a different/lighter dress to wear to the reception but everything else about our wedding I loved. I bought all my bridal dresses from the outlet too for only $29.99 a piece! That was a crazy steal and it all worked out even though one of my best friends found out she was preggo half-way through planning the wedding.

Winter Weather Outfits

Burr...

Most Midwesterners can handle this cold weather but I still think MO/KS folks are kinda pansies. I wore my goulashes, orange knit hat, dark purple wool coat, and my white poncho and I feel fine. For those ladies that are having Just Another Day at the Office feeling can you please review these outfits for a few ideas? Stay warm out there and mostly stay safe!

Spilt Coffee

Tuesday, January 29, 2013

Hi readers,

This morning was NOT my morning. I did get to visit Parisi Coffee before work and take a fun Instagram photo of Union Station; however, I ended up spilling my mocha two times today. The worst part was that I spilt it over my light pink shirt which ended up making it see through and I'm sure clients would not be impressed with that. I went home and changed which ended up with me wearing these fun tights. At least those can make up for my "Case of the Mondays" which ended up happening to me on a Tuesday. Let's see if I can make it through the rest of my day without any more spilt milk.

Cheers,

The Addy's 2013

Monday, January 28, 2013

Ohhhh parties,

I went thrifting and found two dresses worthy of The Addy's. It's a time for creatives in Kansas City to really dress to impress, walk around talking about creative things, and drink too many cocktails. The first dress I found really reminds me of Kirsten Dunst's Louis Vuitton dress she wore to the Art of Elysium Gala. The biggest difference is that I bought my dress for $6.00 and it is Jessica Mcclintock.

I plan to wear my heels from Windsor I blogged about a few weeks ago, the black strappy ones, and wear my hear up in some Audrey Hepburnesque hairdo. Excited to take pictures of everyone there because I should have my new camera by then. What dress do you like better?

Dress Option #2: VintageVelvet Black
reminds me of Jessica Rabbit
